ESI BEST TEACHER AWARD 2025-2026
Preamble
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes the importance of promoting excellence,
innovation, and quality in teaching and learning in higher educational institutions (HEIs).
Recognizing the pivotal role of inspiring and innovative teachers in shaping the next generation
of entomologists, there is a need to acknowledge and incentivize faculty members who have
demonstrated outstanding contributions to Entomology Teaching.
AWARD GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES
A. Name of the Award
The name of the award shall be
"ESI BEST TEACHER AWARD".
B. Objective of the Award
To recognise and honour the best faculty member each year for excellence in human resource
development through teaching-learning, community outreach, institutional service and novelty
of work in the field of entomology education.
C. Nature of the Award
The award shall consist of a memento and citation.
D. Periodicity of the Award
The award shall be conferred annually.
E. Eligibility for the Award

Award will be conferred to an Indian citizen for his/her contributions to Teaching in Entomology.

Applicant should be an Indian citizen and must hold a regular academic/research position in
a recognized academic institution or University or National laboratory or in any other
recognized R&D institution in India.

The applicant must be in the cadre of
Associate Professor/Professor and/or equivalent position, must have at least 15 years
of teaching/research/extension experience as regular faculty member.

Nominees awarded for the same work by any agency/society/institution in the last two years
will not be considered.

Former or present Vice-Chancellors of Universities/ Principals of Colleges/ Directors of Central
or State or Private research institutions / Heads of the Departments not below the rank of
professors/ Fellows of Entomological Society of India (ESI) can nominate suitable candidates
for the award.

The candidate is expected to be a role model teacher with high moral values and must not have
been penalized or have any enquiry pending against him / her.

Total number of awards will be two. Each award consists of a citation and memento.

Each awardee will have to present his/her research work during the award ceremony/seminar.

Complete nominations are to be submitted through Email-
esiaward@gmail.com
in a single PDF (hardcopy will not be entertained) on or before
11.59 PM of the 15 October 2026.
No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
F. Administration of the Award
ESI shall administer the Award and shall retain the right to finalize the rules,
regulations and guidelines for the selection.
G. Selection Process
The Jury chaired by the President, ESI and comprising eminent entomologists constituted by
the society will evaluate the nominations and select the awardees. The decision of the Jury
will be final.
H. Procedure for the Selection

The faculty will be given the intimation to submit their application for the
ESI-Best Teacher Award for the respective academic year on ESI website.

Interested faculty may apply by filling in the prescribed proforma (Annexure I),
attaching the necessary documents.
I. Presentation of the Award
The Award shall be conferred during the ESI Foundation Day Ceremony/Award ceremony.
